Wedding Tips

Some studios can look good at first but most studios offer instructors that are taught the steps an hour before teaching you; it is not what you want! Ask for credentials and experience. Our instructors have been doing competitions for years and therefore know more about dancing than anybody else. As competitors we know what it means to get up and dance in front of a group of people. Your want to trust your first dance to someone with experience.

Signing a contract should never be required, it will lock you into taking a large amount of lessons when you might need much less than what you get.

Find out the hours that private instruction is available, you won't learn a first dance in a group class. Ask for the dance styles offered, and the prices. Your teacher should fully choreograph your "first dance" and help you choose appropriate music.

When you and your fiancé(e) are ready for your first lesson, wear shoes that are similar to the ones you'll be wearing on your wedding day. The bride should even wear her hoop slips-to minimize unwelcome surprises later. Also have music in mind that you want for the big day that is danceable and appropriate, bring it to your lesson if you have it.

Most importantly, be sure to allow as much time as possible to learn your steps and practice. One month before the wedding is not enough time if you want to do it right!

Your First Dance

Tradition dictates that bride and groom open the Dance, immediately followed by the Bride and her father.
