It may sound obvious however there are times when one of you might not be available, sick, upset even simply late... and cannot be present for the lesson. It will do you no good, to either of you, to dance with the instructor. He or she is a professional and knows how to dance. To make the most out of any lesson you must dance and get used to move together. It is better to reschedule rather than waste your lesson.
